Peer Supporting

Selected 2012 peer supporters; Sam, Geoffrey, Bronte, Paige and Talia, went to help out at the Special Olympics. At least 100 students from all over southern Tasmania attended the event in early October. To warm up everyone played games such as pacman and octopus on the tennis courts. We all had fun but were really eager to get into playing tennis.
On November 1ST the peer support group attended a Ribbon Day at Wentworth Park where students participated in a wide range of sports rather than just tennis. We had a huge turnout for this event with an estimated 200 students there for the day. As the day progressed so did the strength of the wind, but we didn’t hear any complaints because everyone was too busy enjoying the activities and having fun.
It was really great helping out the kids," said Bronte.
I think I speak for all the peer supporters when I say that we had a great time and getting to hear all the positive feedback from the students was great.
